Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, provides administrative support for hospital and business operations. The VP Quality is responsible for planning, organizing and executing the organization’s strategic plan for quality, outcomes, risk management, clinical education and patient safety. He/she is responsible for analysis of outcome metrics and ongoing communication to relevant stakeholders. The VP of Quality works with Hospital, Division and Group Leadership to deliver objectives related to quality outcomes.

Essential Functions:

Ensures system wide compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards of CMS, TJC, CAP, OSHA, EPA, EMTALA.

Direct oversight of the Quality Improvement Manager for managing the integrity of hospital data abstraction and reporting program, including CMS and other state and public reporting requirements (Core Measures, HCAHPS, NQF, Leapfrog, ACOS, Trauma Registry, NCDR)
·
Direct oversight of the Quality Staff, Risk Director and Infection Prevention Director and ensures timely reporting, root cause analysis and follow through on sentinel events, serious reportable events, and near misses in compliance with TJC, CMS and HCA policies and procedures.

Serves as department leader for Quality, Risk, Infection Prevention, Clinical Informatics, Clinical Educators, Clinical Documentation Analyst, and Market Medical Staff Librarian.

Reports trending data (clinical outcomes, aggregate occurrences, etc.) to Hospital Leadership, Medical Staff/hospital departments/Board of Trustees based on external benchmarking efforts and internal review activi t ies
·
Delivers annual report on Quality and Safety as well as updates to Quality Assurance Plan and Assessment
·
Oversight of the Risk Director and Medical Staff Services for managing the integrity of the organization’s Ongoing Professional Practice and Peer Review program in compliance with Joint Commission and CMS Regulations.

Represents Parkland Medical Center on the NH Health Care Quality Assurance Commission
·
Works with Chief Medical Officer to provide support to Medical Staff Leaders, Department and Service Line Leaders and ongoing analysis and reporting of Crimson data.
·
Oversight of the medical staff and hospital staff performance as it relates to the Performance Improvement/Patient Safety, Risk Management, Infection Prevention and Operational Strategic Plans
·
Provides process improvement knowledge, methods and conceptual expertise to Hospital Leadership, Quality Staff, Risk Management, Infection Prevent and hospital directors
·
In collaboration with the CFO and COO, manages the Quality metrics for contract service providers and delivers quarterly updates on metrics to finance and administration.
·
Co-chairs monthly Quality Council, with Quality Manager and Medical Staff Leaders
·
Co-chairs the Patient Care and Safety Committee
·
Co-Chairs the Patient Flow Committees in the Emergency and OR Departments
·
With Quality Staff, assists hospital directors interpreting and presenting department performance data clearly to staff and service lines
·
With Quality Staff and Risk Management insures transfer of learning across teams and departments
·
Conducts monthly continuous readiness rounds in clinical areas with Risk, Quality and Infection Prevention Staff, assisting hospital directors and staff teams in improving patient care systems and reducing risk
·
Represents the Hospital in health care programs and professional organizations and serves in a public relations capacity to stimulate professional and organizational growth.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
·


Bachelors degree and Masters degree in business or health care related field required
·
MHA, MBA or Registered Records Administrator (RRA) preferred
·
Must be high energy, systems oriented with excellent analytic and communication skills
·
Must be able to empower and delegate
Experience:
·


Minimum five years progressive leadership and management experience in quality, case management, risk management or records management
·
Hospital leadership and operations experience preferred
Competence:
·
