MAJOR JOB DUTIES:
Serve as a first level supervisor exercising technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers pertaining to the repair, modification, test of aircraft and engine sheet metal parts and accessories.

Plan on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizations segment or group.

Assign work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.

Establish deadlines, priorities, work sequences and i

nitiate action to remedy production bottlenecks, material shortages, and breakdown of equipment.

Participate in meetings and discussions regarding initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, estimates and recommend solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements and enforce management policies.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent. Specialized experience must include

performing management and production functions pertaining to the modification, test, repair, and certification of components on aircraft sheet metal parts and accessories according to prescribed technical data.

In addition, must be able to c

ut, form, join, assemble and install aircraft sheet metal items and parts which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles and planes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment.

2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment common to trades supervised.

4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.

5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

:

The work may require the employee to travel in accordance with Joint travel regulations and maybe required to act as a unit chief in his absence; may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license may be required for the position. This position requires the employee to obtain a security clearance and agree to random drug testing. Work inside and outside; may be subjected to extreme elements of weather such as cold, heat, rain, dust, snow, wind falling objects, exposed to hazardous areas, noise, fumes, oils, greases, fuel and solvents, when walking to industrial work areas; required to wear protective equipment such as: safety glasses and ear protection. Establish and promote a continuing security program and is constantly alert for any irregular security practices, taking immediate corrective action as needed.
