To assist the Fitness Center Supervisor in the daily operation of the Fitness Center.

Essential Job Functions:

Provides assistance to Fitness Center Supervisor in the daily operations of the Fitness Center. Assigns, directs, prioritizes, and reviews the work activities of assigned personnel; compiles and submits employee payroll information to supervisor. Meets with organizations interested in fitness or recreational projects, to assist in planning and to provide information on possible facility and equipment use. Compiles Fitness Center program revenue and expenditure information into daily, monthly, and quarterly reports; submits information to supervisor for program evaluation. Serves as backup to the Fitness Center Supervisor during absences. Teaches fitness classes (i.e. step aerobics, body sculpture, etc.) or recruits and selects contractors to conduct classes. Administers basic first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), to injured individuals; telephones emergency personnel for individuals requiring medical attention; completes appropriate paperwork. Ensures the safety of facility staff and program participants; ensures facility equipment and Fitness Center are in safe condition and working order. Inspects Fitness Center to identify needed repairs; ensures repairs and maintenance tasks are completed and notifies supervisor of major repairs. Trains and instructs staff and members in the proper facilitation of programs or activities; supervises implementation of programs or activities when necessary. Monitors the use of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with established Center policies and procedures; reports discrepancies and incidents to supervisor. Operates a computer in the performance of essential job functions.

Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements:

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a college degree in Physical Education, Recreation Administration, or a related area; one (1) year of experience in recreation facility management, or a related field; one (1) year of computer experience and one (1) year of supervisory experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Must be available for shift assignments which include evenings, weekends and holidays.
