Description
The incumbent is responsible for disassembly, cleaning, inspection and reassembly of aircraft components. Receives moderate supervision from lead worker and has no contact with individuals outside the organization.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES. ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY BE IDENTIFIED BY THE ORGANIZATION AND LISTED AS SUCH IN THE INCUMBENT'S PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ELEMENTS. VARIOUS TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED UNDER EACH ESSENTIAL FUNCTION. THOSE THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THE EXAMPLES OF WORK ARE NOT ALL INCLUSIVE; THEY ARE EXAMPLES ONLY AND MAY BE AMENDED OR ADDED TO AS NEEDED BY THE ORGANIZATION.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED IN THIS CLASSIFICATION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING TASKS. THESE TASKS MAY BE AMENDED OR OTHER TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED AS NECESSARY.
Disassembles components with common hand tools.
Removes paint using abrasive blasting equipment.
Cleans and degreases parts using specified cleaning solutions.
Inspects component parts for wear tolerance using precision measuring equipment.
Reassembles aircraft component and performs functional tests.
Completes associated paperwork with reassembly and functional tests in accordance with manufactures overhaul specifications.
Routes component to the next stage in the overhaul cycle.
Greets visitors.
Exhibits positive courteous behavior with coworkers.
Assists coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when
necessary.
Follows all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company and regulatory bodies.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
INCUMBENT PERFORMS OTHER JOB-RELATED TASKS AS ASSIGNED AND REQUIRED; ANY DUTIES/TASKS INCLUDED IN THE EMPLOYEE'S PERFORMANCE EVALUATION ELEMENTS ARE ESSENTIAL TO THAT EMPLOYEE'S POSITION WITHIN THE JOB CLASSIFICATION.
The following minimum qualifications have been identified by subject matter experts (SMEs) who have supervised this position or functioned in the position; they are based on job analysis information supplied by these SMEs. However, if a candidate believes he/she is qualified for the job although he/she does not have the minimum qualifications set forth below, he/she may request special consideration through substitution of related education and experience, demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Any request to substitute related education or experience for minimum qualifications must be addressed to the Director, Human Resources in writing, identifying the related education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform all essential functions of the position. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Certificate from an industry specific training course or program or technical school in auto mechanics, machinist or aviation OR six (6) years experience in work related to the above-described examples.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: The following skills and abilities are required:
to understand and use the English language both oral and written to communicate information or ideas to
another person or persons;
to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;
to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form;
to recognize or identify the existence of a problem as well as elements of a problem;
in problem analysis and independent decision making;
to understand and follow directions;
to perform a task in the presence of distracting stimulation or under monotonous conditions without significant loss of thought process and efficiency;
to utilize information obtained by shifting between on or more channels of information;
to operate hand and power tools.
