The Registration Specialist is responsible for gathering pertinent information from patients/
familiies and registering patient at admission.
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
by providing a patient friendly and pleasant registration process to assure that patient and family
needs are met in a timely manner.
Responsible for accurate registration of patient,
communication of Holy Rosary Healthcare Policies, financial responsibilities and Patient Rights
and Responsiblities according to departmental operating procedures.
Ensures compliance with
Joint Commission and EMTALA regulations and other regulatory agencies.
Responsible for answering and directing calls to appropriate departments and individuals,
overhead paging and radio paging for alarms and codes for the 24-hour switchboard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
?Greets all patients, families and guests in a welcoming and friendly manner
?Maintains professional, communication with patients, families and guests at all times
?Maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times
?Demonstrates behaviors consistent with organizational mission and goals
?Follows department and hospital policies and procedures
?Appropriately escorts patients to designated location
Registration and Admission Process
?Interviews patient and/or family to obtain current, accurate and complete registration information
?Accurately performs patient registration, obtaining demographic and insurance information and
completing Medicare MSPs and ABNs
?Initiates phone calls as needed to complete patient demographic information
?Completes appropriate paperwork with patient ot ensure compliance with Medicare and
?Promptly reports issues to Patient Access Supervisor
?Responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance benefits prior to patient arrival in the case of
?Responsible for forwarding new insurance/employer information to person responsible for
maintaining those master files
?Refers patients to the Financial Counselor for any assistance options as well as providing
information on Medicaid and charity care applications
?Follows established procedures for collections of co-payments at time of registration
?Answers, directs, prioritizes and refers telephone calls and messages appropriately and in a
?Communicates in a clear, concise, courteours and professional manner.
?Triage calls according to priority and urgency; able to handle call volume of assigned shift
?Contact on-call staff as directed in a courteous and timely manner
Codes and Alarms
?Follows the "Code" procedure in contacting code teams
?Respond to various alarms and contacting appropriate personnel
?Learn and understand process and procedure per safety manual and training
Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certification Requirements:
representative of minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
2. Office Experience preferred
3. Basic understanding of medical terminology
4. Demonstrated customer friendly attitude
5. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within multi-funcational team
6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
7. Experience, understanding and usage of computers, including Microsoft Office Suite as well
as ability to learn applications releveant to position
