SUMMARY: Lead a team of schedulers and estimators for overall organization. The function is the conduit between the customer demand being generated by the sales organization and the execution activities that are passed along to the operations group. The centralized scheduling and estimating group is responsible for the timely and accurate creation of estimates and the last control checkpoint for the conversion of customer accepted quotes to actual jobs.

Schedulers/Estimators

WORKS CLOSELY WITH:
Chief Operating Officer to support a streamlined operations function

Manufacturing sites to best utilize available capacity and maximize margins

Sales organization to understand customer demand and improve customer satisfaction through timely and reliable quote estimates

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : To include the following, other duties may be assigned.

Set and manage the handoff' process from sales to operations through consistent processes, tools and key performance indicators

Associate customer demand with the most appropriate manufacturing site in a manner that maximizes overall company performance

Set and manage the internal scheduling and estimating service that the sales organization can rely on in terms of speed, quality and consistency

Establish a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and best practice sharing throughout the scheduling and estimating function

Aid in avoiding margin leakage through a structured and controlled estimating process

Develop, communicate and monitor key performance indicators for the centralized scheduling and estimating group. Examples of KPIs include the following;

Estimate turnaround time

Estimates versus actual

Labor productivity

Identify business requirements and support the development and implementation of IT tools where appropriate

Perform annual reviews and salary evaluations for direct reports

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: All central scheduling and estimating staff

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a four-year college degree in Business Administration or related degree

Must have at least 10 years of supervisory experience within Operations, including professional services and private sector industries. Director level Operations experience preferred

Must have superior organizational and management capabilities

Must be able to supervise and motivate department staff with varied skill levels

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be literate in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including reports and presentations to C-Level executives

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Proven leadership skills in an Operations environment. Ability to quickly understand complex issues, determine the path forward and execute a plan to achieve desired outcomes. Must have ability to summarize, present and communicate to various levels of resources within the organization. Need to provide clear direction and ensure individual accountability to supervisees

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

TRAVEL

The SVP Scheduling and Estimating position will be based out of Baltimore, MD. Some travel (approximately 1 day/ week) is expected in order to periodically visit the company manufacturing locations, conduct meetings with company personnel, and meet with vendors and/or other external parties as needed
