Job Description:
Develops computer programs, parsing routines, scripts,
and software applications for research and development
projects identified by ANG-E2 personnel. Devises
SWIM-enabled solutions that bridge complex, distributed
databases and network infrastructures in order to
deliver value-added data and services over web-enabled
devices to researchers, safety analysts, and project
stakeholders. Utilizes emerging technologies such as
parallel and cloud computing within the FAA’s
laboratory, NAS, and Non-NAS IT infrastructure. Creates
interfaces from application/web servers that communicate
with mobile computing devices/platforms running IOS or
Android OS’s in the FAA’s environment; as one of the
goals of the project is to create an IPAD/Android mobile
tablet version of safety services applications.

Job Requirements:
B.S. degree from an accredited college or university in
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical &
Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems
Engineering, or some equivalent computer/engineering
degree program. M.S. degree from an accredited college
or university in same/similar field is a benefit, but
not required. A minimum of 5 years of experience is
required in developing and coding software applications
for FAA projects/systems. Knowledge and past experience
with FAA IT/Lab. networks and FAA WJHTC laboratory
infrastructure is strongly preferred. Candidate must be
proficient in both structured and object-oriented
programming languages. A minimum of 2 years of
experience is required in developing and coding
front-end webpage/software applications and graphical
user interfaces (GUI’s) for FAA projects/systems.
Knowledge of and experience with both JMS, XML, SOAP,
and other Web Services protocols along with past
experience with and knowledge of the FAA’s SWIM program
and associated SOA standards is desired. Knowledge and
proficiency in the following areas and requisite

programming languages/software tools is preferred:
  • Data Analysis/Display: Matlab, Google Earth Pro API
  • Application Programming: JAVA, .NET, C++, Objective C,
Perl, Python
  • Scripting: Shell, Bash, Javascript
  • Database: Oracle, SQL Developer
