Functions as technical lead for a group of software engineers working on one or a small number of related projects. Typically supervises from 1 to 4 software engineers. Uses advanced knowledge to lead in the design and documentation of new software and maintenance of existing software. Writes functional specifications and design documents; performs integration and engineering verification of software modules developed by team. Plans and directs work group of software engineers - coordinates activities of the group to meet project deadlines and helps resolve conflicting demands to balance workload of team. Workload is typically no more than managerial (supervision, specification, high-level design, scheduling, administrative), and no less than technical (detailed design, coding, testing, integration). Provides guidance, assistance, direction, and technical leadership to software engineers. Exercises proficiency in software area of Micros, and demonstrates ability to relate technical requirements to Micros marketing and functional requirements. Works closely with documentation and testing groups to ensure success of all aspects of the software development process. Has working knowledge of other Micros departments and how these areas can benefit his/her area. Demonstrates initiative to lead. Interacts and integrates information across divisions and interfaces with multiple levels of Micros personnel; external contacts include software consultants, business partners, multiple vendors, and occasionally customers. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively and present clearly.
Bachelors degree in technical discipline (preferably in computer science or related field) or equivalent experience. 3+ years of software design and development experience. Meets all other requirements of the Senior Software Engineer position. Knowledge of appropriate programming languages, databases, and/or operating system technology; typically familiar with 4 or more relevant technologies (programming languages, database development, etc.).
