As a Linux Systems Engineer this position is primarily responsible for the uptime, deployment and maintenance of our public facing production systems. This includes providing strong technical expertise delivered in a professional manner to manage large scale system architectures.
This position reports directly to the Director of Production Infrastructure and works closely with development teams and other systems engineers.
Essential duties and responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
Provide professional administrative support of public facing production systems.
Provide professional administrative support of large cloud hosted infrastructure
Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills using experience and other available resources
Provide monitoring, disaster recovery support and help ensure system wide stability.
Maintain up-to-date detailed documentation and publishing; where applicable
Provide strong Project Management skills
Assist in ensuring 24x7 availability of services and infrastructure.

Strong, hands on knowledge and experience working with popular cloud providers
Strong, hands on knowledge of scripting and automation of deployments
Strong, hands on knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB and other NoSQL Databases
Strong, hands on knowledge of configuration management systems such as puppet.

Experience with multi-site systems
Thorough understanding and working knowledge of various Linux platforms. primarily CentOS
Knowledgeable on the following network technologies: IP, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, SNMP, IPSEC, iSCSI, NAS/SAN, DHCP, DNS
Structural understanding of AWS Elastic Block Store Extensive experience with backup and disaster recovery best practices
Thorough understanding of Virtual Host Platforms including VMWare and Xen
Must be capable of independent self-direction
Desirable Experience in the video game development environment
Previous experience with: Windows server platforms
Experience working with a distributed IT team and the ability to assist less advanced technicians in their increased understanding of technologies
Education/experience/certifications Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from accredited institution and/or 5 plus years relevant experience
