SUPERVISOR; PATIENT ACCESS: FULL-TIME Day Shift PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Supervisor of Patient Access responsible to ensure patient registration duties are completed in accordance with procedural and hospital guidlines and requirements. Insure that patient access representatives verify insurance benefits and check necessity of pre-certification/authorization/referrals and always obtain patients signatures on required hospital forms. Communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff and other hospital colleagues as appropriate. Ensure patient access representatives provide appropriate level of quality customer service in a professional manner and aligned with hospital and departmental expectations and guidelines. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS: Education, Training and Experience: Education, Training and Experience: a. Associates Degree or 4 years Customer Service experience in a healthcare environment. II. Other Requirements: a. Must possess the ability to: handle irate customers, physician office personnel, and internal staff; work under stressful situations; work independently, be self-directed; and relate effectively with individuals that have widely diversified backgrounds. b. Excellent communication skills. c. Knowledge of medical terminology. d. Experience with PC use and basic applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases or Internet. e. Previous experience with insurance eligibility systems including Medicaid, Medicare, and other commercial and private payor eligibility systems preferred. f. Previous Patient Access supervisory experience preferred.
