The Director of communications position exists to support the OhioHealth strategic imperatives of –managing reputation, developing culture and building engagement— by directing all internal and external communications activities for OhioHealth and its entities. Responsibilities are: Provide oversight and direction for the team developing and implementing internal and external communications; ensure system thinking and collaboration where appropriate. Integrate entity (care site) communication plans into system communication plan. Lead system physician communication strategy and engagement. Serve as primary point person for internal and external communications for OhioHealth including issues management. Serve as strategic communications counsel for OhioHealth executives. Effectively manage resources including people, budget and time. Maintain expertise in healthcare communications, staying abreast of issues, trends and competitors, strategies, and introduce best practice communications strategies to OhioHealth. Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related field

Specialized Knowledge:
Experience working in matrixed environment. Thorough understanding of communications and public relations principles and knowledge of research, design and integrated communication channels, e.g., web. Superior leadership, writing and planning skills. Excellent negotiation skills. Knowledge of national public relations/internal communications best practices. Understanding and skill in development and implementation of communications plans for a large, regional healthcare system a plus.

Kind and Length of Experience:
Greater than 10 yrs in communications /public relations. Well-rounded experience in all aspects of the communications mix, including integration of internal and external communications. Healthcare experience preferred.
