Challenge Financial Services is a fast growing auto finance company, loaning money on vehicles in major markets throughout the western United States. The last year has been one of the strongest in the company's history, and we are looking for a motivated and teamwork oriented IT professional to join in their growth.

About the Job:
We need a capable technologist to build, maintain, and support our growing technology infrastructure. You will own the care and feeding of our existing information systems, and outsourced resources. We will count on your abilities to design and implement new infrastructure to stay ahead of our growth. This is a rare opportunity to set the tone for our technology architecture and to build out our team from the ground up.

Things you will do:

Data Management and Integration

  • Integrate operational data from our various systems to solve specific business problems
  • Integrate third party provided structured data into our existing systems and workflow
  • Develop database applications based on these systems for transaction and reporting purposes
  • Manage and extend our existing reporting environment to provide ever more useful information from our transactional data

Systems administration and support

  • Maintain and manage our application services and network server infrastructure
  • Manage technology vendors (including telecom, software, payments and fax-email service providers)
  • Manage Windows desktop applications support and network support resources
  • Deliver IT services and technical support in six remote locations (and growing!)

Knowledge and skills you should have:

  • Proven capabilities with complex databases, implementing and configuring reporting tools
  • 4+ years experience with current RDBMS systems, such as SqlServer, MySQL, Oracle
  • Deep experience with data integrations between transactional systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux servers and Windows Servers
  • 2+ years experience with a widely used virtualization stack, such as Xen, AWS, OpenStack
  • Experience with systems development from requirements analysis to day-to-day management
  • Good understanding of storage systems, including SANs and NAS appliances

Bonus points for:

  • Proven experience with our specific technology stack, including SUSE Linux, Asterisk (Elastix), Xen, Postgres and Megasys Server
  • A Bachelor’s degree, particularly in Computer Science/Information Systems
  • Relevant vocational training, including technical certifications or MS or PMP certification

  • Set priorities with little guidance, and focus on delivering results
  • Work flexible hours and respond to system outages when needed
  • Occasionally travel to remote offices across the western US
