Perform journey-level work in plumbing and steamfitting activities including maintaining, repairing and installing building plumbing systems consistent with plumbing plans and codes. Be skilled or semi-skilled in a combination of other trades in order to complete the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Supervise a group of employees. Effectively communicate with others for the purpose of exchanging information and to give guidance on operations.
Four years (4) of satisfactory plumbing experience under a journey level plumber. Apprenticeship training or training gained by the completion of technical courses at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year for year basis. Working knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the plumbing and steamfitting trade. Working knowledge of applicable plumbing code regulations. Ability to read, interpret and work from plans, drawings and specifications. Ability to recognize and rectify plumbing problems and do other trade related work, ie; electrical, carpentry and masonry. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds and work at heights. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor. Must have NYS drivers license.
