Full time hours as needed for the success of the position. Will require some Nights and Weekends.
Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Center Executive, the Program Director will have full responsibility of overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of the programs within the respective departments of Youth and Family as well as Sports. The Program Director will also be responsible for overseeing all safety related operations including training, certifications, and maintaining all safety procedures and equipment. Other responsibilities include income production, expense control, staff training, membership development, facility management, and fund raising.
Education / Experience Required:
Minimum 21 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent, 4-year college degree preferred
Substantial experience in relationship development, staff hiring, training and leadership, and fiscal management
YMCA experience in membership and face to face fund raising experience is preferred
Minimum 1600 hours lifeguarding experience and minimum four years experience in direct teaching of aquatic programs
Experience with pool operations and testing pool chemicals; Pool Operator certification preferred
Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet and Praesidium Child Abuse Detection / Prevention training
Before first shift: successfully complete Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program and obtain / maintain Ellis & Associates lifeguard license, BBP
Within 30 days of hire: Unity training, Current ASHI CPR and Instructor Certification required
Within six months of hire: YMCA P.O.O.L. / CPO
Within 12 months of hire: successfully complete Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program Instructor Training and obtain / maintain Ellis & Associates Instructor / Instructor Trainer license

Oversee budget, hiring, training and managing staff, instruction, and risk management,

Represent YMCA programs in the community for the purpose of building collaborative relationships that strengthen programs.

Participate as a key staff leader in the Annual Giving Campaign by telling YMCA story by recruiting, leading and supervising volunteers and securing charitable donations.
Prepare annual program budget and monitor departmental budgets as assigned to ensure budgetary goals are met.
Serve on center leadership team with the full-time staff. Perform assigned Manager on Duty and other assigned responsibilities as part of the centers leadership team.

Ensure the safe delivery of aquatic programs to members, participants and guests, making the YMCA a community leader in Aquatics
Develop and implement safe high quality programming, scheduling, purchasing of equipment, and promotion for facility and possible off-site aquatic programs and other programs
Hire, train, supervise and evaluate a professional team of qualified aquatic staff and volunteers; ensure lifeguard coverage; staff all programs appropriately to ensure coverage during all programs, activities, and open swimming times
Maintain Ellis & Associates lifeguard license; comply with Ellis & Associates standards to maintain his/her license
Ensure all aquatics staff acquire and maintain necessary licenses / certifications; train all staff in emergency procedures and incident reporting
Direct and coordinate all aquatic programs, CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard/AED licensing / certification programs
Manage all necessary information and records for the development of programs, program participants and program evaluations
Respond to member and participant concerns in a timely, professional manner
Lifeguard and lead programs in support of staff when necessary; provide fun, supportive work environment with high staff morale and proper recognition
Serve on and participate in appropriate Cabinets and Committees
