Responsibilities

The Lead Oracle / Java developer is responsible for overseeing the performance of all high-level activities (e.g., client requirements collection/analysis, systems design, systems integration, etc.) related to all phases of the systems life cycle.

  • The incumbent acts independently, and provides technical leadership and/or business-related subject matter expertise across multiple initiatives
  • The Lead Oracle/Java Developer is also responsible for validating and implementing reliable and efficient large-scale automated solutions to fulfill complex business requirements.
  • Provides expert-level technical support for the b2b.verizonwireless.com website and development team
  • Conducts architectural reviews - ensures that design standards are followed
  • Conducts performance test reviews – ensures that application should perform during heavy web traffic
  • Conducts code reviews - ensures that design standards are followed
  • Defines, develops and enforces technical standards
  • Evaluates 3rd party software and makes recommendations to Sr. Management
  • Ensures that development team is in compliance with all coding and SDLC standards
  • Consults with Sr. Management on technical decisions
  • Acts as a subject matter expert, safeguarding the interests of VZW, its customers and its employees
  • Works with 3rd party vendors to ensure that technical feasibility and maintainability are guaranteed
  • Acts as mentor to development team
  • Provides insight to peers, in regards to skill-set development
  • Maintains knowledge in state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies
  • Provides technical leadership and/or business-related subject matter expertise across multiple, large-scale, highly complex projects
  • Reviews designs and provides feedback on large-scale technical decisions
  • Ensures systems implementations comply with established Change Control methods and procedures
  • Leads the development of system-related standards and procedures
  • Responsible for analyzing and proactively managing problems and making final decisions that impact overall system and project(s)
  • Oversees the analysis and resolution of complex client and systems problems
  • Validates and implements systems solutions to fulfill business requirements while providing quality customer service
Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Systems and 8 to 10 years of information systems experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Excellent hands-on and practical experience with the following areas:

  • Scrum/Agile methodology experience on large project ( 3+ year)
  • Oracle Database experience with PL/SQL & SQL development and Application Performance uning (8+ years)
  • Unix Shell Scripts (8+ years)
  • Demonstrated expert-level knowledge in Java and J2EE development and architectural technologies
  • Design and develop databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability
  • Design and Develop data models for applications, metadata tables, views or related database structures
  • Create and enforce database development standards
  • In depth knowledge of project management concepts - Superior business knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of information systems concepts
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of quality assurance management techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Superior organizational and problem solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in a high-pressure production support environment
  • Acts independently - reports project progress and end results
  • Demonstrated ability to create metrics and tools, which reflect application and system prformance
