Completion of High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program and/or successful completion of the Medical Assistant Certification Exam. Certified Medical Assistant required successful completion of the AAMA, RMA/AMT, NCCT or NAHTR Medical Assistant Certification, exam within 3 months of hire. Five or more years of specific applicable MA experience in primary medical care may be substituted for formal training program provided eligibility for RMA or AMT exam. A valid CPR certification required upon hire and recertification required annually. Two years of phlebotomy experience preferred and two years experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred under the clinical direction of the physician, and the interdisciplinary health care team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient. Knowledge regarding Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred. Ability to learn and use a computer based patient appointments scheduling, registration, and electronic patient record systems.
