Description:
Reports to the Director of Operations.
Meets the requirements of FAR 119.71.
May perform duties as a flight crewmember when required.
Is responsible for maintaining a liaison with the Director of Operations in all operations matters.
Coordinates training needs to insure that adequately trained pilots are available for all trip needs.
Has overall responsibility for the scheduling and efficient utilization of the aircraft.
Is responsible for crewmember standardization.
Insures that a properly qualified Pilot-in-Command is designated for each flight.
Insures that revisions to the Operations Manual are made available to all pilots.
Designates check airmen, aircraft flight instructors and ground instructors.
Is responsible with the Director of Maintenance for preparing and submitting the Mechanical Interruption Summary Report required by FAR 135.417.
Shall participate in the investigation of, and make a report to the Director of Operations, on any aircraft accident, reportable incident, records discrepancy, or airman flight violation.
Is responsible, with the Director of Operations, for ensuring that pilot records are maintained to FAA standards.
Is responsible for aircraft charts and related publications.
Works closely with the Director of Maintenance to insure that aircraft maintenance problems do not unnecessarily disrupt scheduled flight operations.
Insures that a copy of each load manifest, weight and balance form is retained at the crew base for a minimum of 30 days.
Insures that each satellite base, if applicable, has a qualified base chief pilot that can manage the base's directed flight operations.
Is responsible for the schedulers' duties and procedures.
Initiate the company's accident plan.
Is responsible for the aircraft's 'stores' and other expendables used with the aircraft.
Pilot Reviews including observing pilot in-flight and on-ground preparation.
Oversee and contribute to monthly Pilot Meetings.
Coordinate Pilot Uniforms (seasonal changes, etc.).
Interview and Hire Pilots with approval from the Director of Operations.
Disciplinary Write-ups and day-to-day pilot issues and concerns.
Oversee pilot duty book and ensure that all pilots are filling out correctly.
Periodically check aircraft for cockpit cleanliness, Jespersen's updates, and pilot ready room.
Work with Director of Training to ensure that check rides, orals, medicals, etc. are kept up-to-date.
Attend weekly status meetings and monthly financial meetings.
Coordinate and orchestrate department plans and goals with Director of Operations.
Work closely with charter and flight operations to ensure pilots are not avoiding trips or behaving improperly toward fellow employees.
Budget/Plan and get approved annual and recurrent training on pilot and flight attendants with the Director of Training helping in this process.
Familiar with CTA FOSNT scheduling software
Safety management background ensuring standardization and best practices
