*** THIS POSITION IS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY ***The National Student Clearinghouse, a non-profit organization, is the nation's trusted source for post-secondary and secondary student degree, diploma and enrollment verification. Through our verification reporting solutions, we help colleges, universities, high schools and high school districts improve efficiency, reduce costs and workload, and enhance the quality-of-service they provide to their students and alumni, lending institutions, employers, and other organizations. All of our programs are designed to reduce administrative burden of providing educational record verification for our participating schools while maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of records in our care in full compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The National Student Clearinghouse is seeking five second or third year undergraduate students for a full-time paid internship (35 hours a week). The summer intern will work closely with Clearinghouse management on projects within our Office of the President, Human Resources, Client Management, Transcript Services and Corporate Communications departments. Each intern will be assigned to one of the five departments based upon their field of study. While the position is scheduled from June 4 - August 10, 2012, there is the possibility for the position to continue part-time during the school year. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Position may be required to perform other duties as required. Office of the President Provide assistance to Facilities and Office Services Coordinator related to facilities management Assist with processing incoming and outgoing mail in a timely and accurate manner Work with Chief of Staff on special projects Human Resources Work closely with the Director, Human Resources, HR Generalist, Training and Development Specialist, and Recruiting and Selection Coordinator on companywide initiatives. Provide research for HR initiatives. Assist in various HR duties, including, but not limited to, new employee orientation, payroll, training and recruiting. Client Management Corresponds with school clients verbally and in writing (via email) in order to complete assigned work Conducts periodic follow-up, as appropriate, with school clients to ensure completion of assigned project(s) Works closely with Client Management staff to assist with various projects associated with school clients' participation with the Clearinghouse Transcript Services Create a Knowledge Library in the Request for Proposal (RFP) software Identify and create key words for common terms in RFP responses Create standard RFP response templates, utilizing the identified key words Populate the RFP software with all historical RFP responses Corporate Communications Works closely with Corporate Communications team on various projects Assists in various stages of marketing material development/production Assist in editing and proofreading all types of communications materials Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Two full years of undergraduate studies at an accredited four-year post-secondary institution Good academic standing Working directly and successfully with others to resolve problems and/or inquiries Excellent written and oral communication skill Strong active listening skills Good project management skills Detail oriented with ability to identify and analyze problems Strong interpersonal skills, ability to successfully work with others in a team environment Proficiency with Word and Excel Ability to complete work with minimal supervision ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThese essential functions are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
