Reporting to the Manager of Leasing Information Services, the Housing Specialist for Postdoctoral and Transient Housing will have primary responsibility for coordinating two critical areas of the University Apartment Housing division of Residential Operations: The allocation and leasing of housing to Postdoctoral Scientists and Fellows, and Transient Housing. The Housing Specialist will be responsible for processing housing for the University's Postdoctoral Scientists and Fellows as well as Transient Tenants. This includes coordinating the completion of housing applications, housing approvals, housing placements, offer acceptances, rental agreement executions, relocations, internal database maintenance, and vacancy tracking. The Housing Specialist independently administers the application, allocation, tracking, analysis, assignment and related processing of the University's Postdoctoral Scientists and Fellows. He / She will also act as liaison between other University departments such as construction, maintenance, and billing. The Housing Specialist works closely with Postdoctoral Fellow liaisons and departments to clarify and resolve issues arising out of the application and allocation process. He / She collaborates with other leasing coordinators and support staff to ensure that routine processing related to both tenant types is completed effectively. The Housing Specialist will also be responsible for verifying and updating appointment information for Postdoctoral Fellows already in housing, ensuring they continue to meet housing eligibility criteria. In conjunction with the Director of Leasing Services and other senior building personnel, the Housing Specialist also coordinates all aspects of transient, short-term, and emergency housing placements, including housing assignment, tenant tracking, and departmental billing. Specialist will work closely with building personnel to ensure that appropriate guest services are provided. In addition, he / she will collaborate to develop strategies for redesigning these areas of housing as the division continues to move towards improvement of key processes. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent, plus a minimum of 2-4 years related experience required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong customer service orientation and ability to interact effectively with the University community required. Ability to analyze data, make independent judgments and produce detailed work under extraordinary time constraints. Due to the diverse nature of the University's rental unit stock and the staggered availability, the task of assigning apartments requires a keen ability to analyze and prioritize data so that best use can be made of this scarce resource to meet projected needs. Basic computer literacy essential. Ability to work with computer based tenant management and billing systems required.
