The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Branch Chief, providing logistics management guidance, direction and control of assigned areas of responsibility, projects and/or programs to ensure total logistics support of the C-KC-135 Weapon System.

This position is responsible for the functional areas of logistics and sustainment management, production management, and Weapon System Supply Chain Management. Plans and directs the activities of the branch in preparation and management of overall logistics concepts and plans for the C/KC-135 weapon system.

Oversee timely and effective logistics and sustainment program management, production, production management, and weapon system management support to C/KC-135 Programmed Depot Maintenance activities, field level requirements, as well as Source of Supply (SOS) and Source of Repair (SOR) needs.

Focus will be on overall support provided to the C/KC-135 Weapon System.

Will be required to provide advice, recommended solutions to problems, strategic planning, and other input to the C/KC-135 System Program Office (SPO) Director and Deputy Director.

Will interact with all suppliers as necessary to effect total system logistics support to the weapon system for the purpose of meeting war fighter war requirements, and provide response to real-time developing needs and tasking.

At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-13) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include knowledge in programmed depot maintenance (PDM) requirements, plans, scheduling, and execution. Specialized experience in assessing and managing the cost, schedule and technical performance parameters of assigned logistics projects or programs. Specialized experience managing aircraft fleet logistics requirements through management of logistics, sustainment, production maintenance/repair and inventory/item management activities in coordination with MAJCOMs, AFMC depots, sources of supply agencies, repair centers, and users. Develops and implements program controls. Plans, organizes, and coordinates activities related to contracting, engineering, testing, and logistics. Reviews and directs the progress of applicable contracts in meeting program objectives. Prepares briefings, studies, and other analyses for presentation to management officials and stakeholders. This position is a Critical Acquisition Position.

Federal Time-In-Grade

Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-13 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

1. Intense and comprehensive knowledge of the management policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning logistics and aircraft sustainment programs, production management processes, inventory/item management processes and initiatives, and effective management of aircraft availability improvement program.

2. Skill to plan, organize and direct through subordinate levels of supervision critical aspects of production, support of systems, sub systems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems logistics.

3. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of production and sustainment, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems logistics.

4. Skill to apply common analytical methods and techniques to resolve procedural logistics management problems and issues. Knowledge of specialized analytical methods and techniques to resolve difficult logistics management issues, and problems.

5. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations, and to recommend timely and economical solutions.

6. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, and funding processes related to logistics, supply, and production management functions. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and products.

The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. APDP positions meet all of the following criteria:

General Acquisition Duties may include one or more of the following: Conceptualization, initiation, design, development, testing, contracting, production, deployment, logistical support, modification and/or disposal of systems, supplies, or services (include in construction) to satisfy DoD needs, intended for use in, or in support of, military missions.

Work requires the appropriate APDP certification and will be required to maintain certifications thru appropriate training and deadlines. The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWlA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

Associated acquisition related duties and functions are described in the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Workforce Position Category Descriptions (PCDs). PCDs along with governing guidance for acquisition positions can be found: Incumbent is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education Requirements. Coded position levels will meet Air Force Direction.

2. The work requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft. Employee may be required to work overtime.

3. The employee may be required to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
