Colorado National Guard Dual Status Technician Announcement Technicians are employed under the authority of Title 32 USC, Section 709, which states, in part, that technicians are to be employed in "the administration and training of the National Guard," and "the maintenance and repair of supplies issued to the National Guard."

This position is located in the Logistics function of an ARNG Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). The AASF provides Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM), Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM), and aviation maintenance training for supported units. The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness. Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance DUTIES:
Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations. Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations. Oversees installation of equipment for special missions. Works closely with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control personnel to report and maintain current aircraft status. Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Controls and performs work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, material and personnel. Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Clears Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Performs in-process and final inspection of others' work on assigned aircraft and components and certifies by signature adherence to work procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications. Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. Ensures material and equipment are properly and safely maintained and protected. Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE NOTE Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
2. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
3. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
