POSITION SUMMARY
The Court Liaison represents the Wheeler Clinic AIC program to CSSD staff, clients, court personnel, probation, and the public. This position clearly and accurately communicates participant appropriateness, progress, and program participation to local court and probation personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree plus 2 years experience in a criminal justice agency, law enforcement, or probation is required. Familiarity with Connecticut Penal Code is preferred. Education may be substituted with experience on a year for year basis.

Displays excellent work habits (attendance, promptness, timeliness, professionalism), is open to feedback, and makes good use of time. Proven ability to work on a team to ensure program goals are met, communicates effectively verbally and in writing, and is committed to personal and program growth.

SCHEDULE
8:30am-4:30pm; however the position requires flexibility to operate as part of a team by providing program coverage for client services outside of normal work schedule, typical job function or primary work site, as requested (e.g., additional evening or Saturday shifts may be required to ensure operational coverage).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and maintains networking relationship with court and probation personnel to ensure acceptance and use of Wheeler Clinic’s AIC services.
Obtains and disseminates accurate, timely, written documentation from AIC staff to court and probation. Clearly and professionally communicates client progress and participation in the AIC to the court.
Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation of client services using Wheeler Clinic and CSSD procedures, forms, and reporting systems.
Provides educated referral recommendations for other services in the Wheeler Clinic continuum of care, when indicated.
Submits referral source paperwork maintaining current referral and case continuation information in a timely manner.
Interviews prospective participants to determine appropriateness for AIC program. Works with clients and families to ensure proper program placement, answers questions, and provides referral information.
Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients and their families in AIC programming.
Coordinates and follows up with clients and AIC staff when there is a client transfer or transitional housing placement.
Demonstrates competence in and acknowledges client cultural traditions, values, and beliefs.
