This position is with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) located in three different locations: Charleston, SC, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC and Naval Base Norfolk, VA. As an IT Specialist (DATAMGT), the incumbent will perform duties that involves planning, development, implementation, administration of systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data.

Washington, DC salary range will include 24.22% for locality. Norfolk, VA and Charleston, SC salary range will include 14.16% for locality.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:
  • Plan the migration of databases to new technologies.
  • Update data models to reflect new data management technologies.
  • Conduct research to validate customer requirements
  • Use Agile and SCRUM methodologies in software development.
  • Perform troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve browser inconsistencies.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the public or private sector performing duties such as the following: 1.) developing standards for the appropriate handling of data; 2.) configure database management system software for optimal performance; 3.) and evaluating new database technologies and architecture to provide management with recommendations. AND I have IT-related experience demonstrating the following four competencies: ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I am able to review data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation. I draft, edit and disseminate written reports and status updates that are factual, timely and relatively error free; CUSTOMER SERVICE - I develop and maintain relationships with customers with diverse needs. I provide technical information about products and services. I assess the needs of customers and identify or tailor products and/or services to meet their needs. I resolve non-routine problems, questions, or complaints and direct the most complex problems, questions, or complaints to the appropriate person; ORAL COMMUNICATION - I communicate, explain, or defend ideas or information clearly. I listen to others and recognize potential miscommunications; PROBLEM SOLVING - I use logic to identify alternatives to solve technical problems. I identify and solve problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives. REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

A Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. Applicants should meet the DAWIA Certification requirements for the Information Technology and be certified at the Level II at the time of application. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Under the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Science Technology Reinvention Laboratory (SSC STRL) personnel system selectee maybe be required to successfully complete a three-year probationary period.

A 40 hours work week is typical for this position.

Work requires Travel Nights per Month: 6-10.
