Percona is looking for an exceptional, team-oriented person interested in driving development and market positioning of new MySQL-related products and services. As a Product Manager you will have ownership over specific product and projects deliverables with tangible, measurable impact on Percona ’s product and service strategy. Joining our team will make you an integral part of leading Percona to the top of the open source database industry. The Director of Product Management is responsible for managing product lines, increasing profitability of existing products, and developing new products based on market requirements.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional project management, communication and leadership skills. Additionally, this role will require in-depth technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively work with customers to capture business requirements for product lines. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage entire product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities Develop Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) for each product/service line Publish a clear roadmap for each assigned product/service line Conduct market research, surveys, and customer/prospect visits to understand and specify business requirements for target market segments Analyze competitive offerings to identify differentiators and set pricing Complete win/loss analysis to learn from previous sales experience Document and report on product profitability and operational product metrics Evangelizes the platform through blogging, community engagement forums and events Develops core technical content including presentations " white papers Identify a set of differentiating and innovating scenarios supporting a best in class story Streamline our portfolio of products, offers and programs Define user personas and use cases to gain understanding from each perspective Generate and review product launch deliverables evangelizing key product features and customer value Create business cases for new product developments to achieve consensus Work with development, sales and customer service to convert market requirements into products that meet the requirements of current and prospective clients and users Help product marketing create collateral that accurately reflects the features and benefits of the product lines Develop and implement go-to-market strategies with all corporate departments Analyze partnership opportunities for products and/or integrated solutions The ideal candidate combines technical and marketing experience that includes: Experience as a Product Manager for a software product (B2B) BA/BS degree required. BS in Computer Science not required, but desired.

MBA not required, but desired Minimum of 5 years of experience in a marketing/product management role Exceptional knowledge of marketing, sales and development processes Strong project management, problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Ability to develop strong relationships and work with senior level executives Ability to work with different people across a team effectively Natural ability to relate to customers and prospects Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) The ability to travel when required This position can be located anywhere although preference will be given to candidates within or near the Pacific time zone.
