Position Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a consultant to client departments in all areas of the Human Resource management including employment, performance management, employee relations, training and development, and compensation. The HR Generalist develops sufficient understanding of client departments to proactively advise managers about how to more effectively manage their staff resources. During the recruiting process the Generalist has the opportunity to advise managers about evaluating existing department structure to determine if job content and job level are appropriate, to set hiring ranges and determine salary offers. The HR Generalist advises departments in identifying, evaluating, and resolving human resources issues arising due to performance issues, skill gaps, employee relations concerns, and assists in the interpretation and consistent application of HR policy and employment law. The HR Generalist identifies emerging issues and recommends appropriate courses of action including participation in the review, evaluation and development of HR policies, procedures, programs and systems.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of five years' experience in a progressively responsible position providing a full range of human resources services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Knowledge of employment law as well as best practices in the area of employment, employee relations, and compensation. - Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and a professional demeanor to deal effectively with complex and sensitive issues. - Experience with Workday or other cloud-based HR and/or recruitment systems and experience using social media in recruitment is a plus. - Must be able to work effectively with a diverse population and as part of a team.
