Summary of Duties
The Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse (CWOCN) provides expert level clinical consultation, teaching, and direct care of complex patient problems in the specialty areas of wounds, fistulas, ostomies, continence, and related skin problems in the inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings. Performs patient assessment and clinical management or treatment recommendations for complex patient care problems. Provides staff and patient, caregiver education in the specialty areas. Serves as the corporate resource for specialty area product selection, policy/procedure and protocol development, and program development. ognize that the foundation for providing excellent care begins with recruiting exceptional candidates and cultivating the talents of our current employees.


HIRING COMPETENCIES - skills & experiences the applicant should bring to the job.
a. License: Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Oregon required.Current WOCN Board-certification as a CWOCN. Valid Oregon driver’s license required.Current Healthcare Provider BLS required or within 90- days of hire.
b. Two years relevant professional experience as a CWOCN.
c. Five years relevant experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care; home health experience preferred.
d. Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served in the job.
e. Knowledge of current wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) assessment and treatment methods required.
f. Knowledge of WOC modalities, supplies, and equipment required.
g. Ability to maintain effective relations with other health care professionals
h. Demonstrates basic PC skills.
i. Demonstrates proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee's particular job.
j. Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds

2. Physically Demanding Tasks:
Moves beds, stretchers and equipment up to 500 pounds five to ten times per shift.Assists in the movement of patients and/or equipment whose weight may range from 30 to 500 pounds, pushes or pulls weights, walks and/or stands for 5-8 hours/shift, lifts 35-40 pounds.Must have adequate range of motion to accomplish duties.
