Job Mission
Seeking a strong Linux Systems Administrator, preferably with large clusters/cloud computing experience. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the software and hardware deployment on private vmware-based cloud. This position requires flexibility and willingness to be on call and available 24 hours a day, including weekends on a rotating schedule.


Perform system administration tasks across the LAMP environments at Stella & Dot

Responsible for new system builds and deployments ensuring that the environment is kept up to date leveraging the best practices within the industry

Build tools for automation of systems administration tasks that include building servers, storage devices, security and monitoring infrastructure, and other components of infrastructure

Responsible for interfacing with developers and recommending the best course of action for change management into the production environment

Maintaining non-production environments and ensuring their consistency/compatibility with the production environment

Responsible for BCP/DRP strategy for the environment

Responsible for maintaining documentation of policies and procedures for various tasks related to the operation of the environments

Perform forensics analysis, audits, and other system administration tasks

job Qualifications

5 years of Unix Systems Administration experience (3+ years in a high volume Linux environment)

Solid understanding of configuration management tools such as Chef or Puppet

Strong understanding of the non-OS components of the LAMP stack

Strong scripting experience and proven ability to automate security and other systems administration tools

Strong experience with storage, load balancing, and other technologies in a high volume, high transaction environment

Experience with forensic analysis across the LAMP stack

Current stack includes LAMP (Ubuntu), Magento, Drupal, MongoDB, Apache Solr, Bind, OpenLDAP, Nagios/Collectd/Graphite, Splunk, Chef.

Hardware stack includes Citrix Netscaler load balancer, Extreme and Brocade switches, HP servers, and 3PAR storage. These components are standardized across all our data centers (2 by end of Q1, 2012).
