Under the direction of the Food Services Manager, the Dietary Aide performs a variety of patient food services, dining room and dish room services as well as other related tasks. The Dietary Aide prepares food items and assembles prepared foods for patient trays, delivers trays to dining room or patients' units, works in the dish room and in pots and pans washing area as needed; also serves foods in the cafeteria , cleans cafeteria tables, and service counter area after meals. Dietary Aides are expected to adhere to the facility and departmental policies and procedures and to follow proper sanitation, safety, and infection control policies. This position does not provide direct patient care.
10:30am -7:00pm Weekdays.
5:00am - to 7:30pm Weekends as needed
Prepares, assembles and delivers patient meals and snacks according to prescribed diets, noting identified allergies.
Services patients in dining room or patient room the correct diet in a pleasant and courteous manner.
Assures compliance with regulatory requirements concerning food handling, by following proper sanitation, infection control and risk management guidelines. Utilizes current HACCP plan for the department.
Prepares cold food items, including salads, sandwiches, platters, desserts, nourishments, snacks and special items as necessary. May assist in hot production.
Performs assignments in cafeteria, including: serving, grilling, stocking, cleaning and handling cash.
Operates dish machine and works in pot area, following established sanitation procedures.
Assists in preparing catered functions and acts as waiter/waitress for special functions.
Assists in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and performs other cleaning duties as directed.
Attends in-services and other required meeting.
Performs other duties as requested.
Experience in previous hospital food service, computer skills and Servsafe Certification preferred.
