Job Description:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager ensures
compliance with all environmental, safety, and health
standards and regulations at the local, state, and
federal levels. The EHS Manager manages environmental
and safety compliance activities at company facilities
consistent with local, state, and federal environmental
laws and regulations. This individual manages
environmental and safety due diligence, regulatory
reporting compliance, licensing and permitting, and new
permitting activities for the development of new and/or
additions to existing operational facilities. This
individual analyzes the environmental and safety risks,
benefits, and potential compliance costs of new
environmental and safety regulatory requirements, and
oversees departmental budget items supporting
environmental and safety compliance activities. The EHS
Manager frequently travels to various sites to conduct
audits and inspections, and when necessary, accident
investigations.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
ENVIRONMENTAL
  • Modifying policies, procedures, and operating
guidelines to comply with frequent changes to
applicable laws and regulations.
  • Evaluating and securing compliance with
environmental laws and programs through permitting,
self-assessments, audits, inspections,
investigations, and enforcement and corrective
action activities
  • Developing and implementing environmental
compliance plans for air quality, storm water,
wastewater treatment, hazardous waste management,
pollution prevention, and solid waste management
  • Obtaining and providing oversight for all contracts
related to environmental programs
  • Coordinate compliance testing with state and
federal requirements for air, water, and waste
  • Maintain a working knowledge of: SPCC, HAP’s, SARA,
GHG, MACT, ODS, 311, 312, 313, pipeline safety, gas
distribution, DOT regulations CFRs – and ability to
effectively communicate with regulators
  • Principles, practices, and techniques of
environmental planning and protection
  • Hazardous waste and/or material handling, storage,
labeling, and disposal requirements of various
federal, state, and local agencies
  • Water pollution prevention requirements of various
federal, state, and local agencies
  • Air pollution prevention requirements of various
federal, state, and local agencies
  • Municipal solid waste management requirements of
various federal, state, and local agencies
  • Oil and hazardous substance contingency planning
concepts and oil pollution prevention requirements
of various federal, state, and local agencies
  • Underground and aboveground tank program
requirements of various federal, state, and local
agencies
SAFETY
  • Responsible for maintaining the ESG company safety
program
  • Maintains employee accident reporting program in
accordance with OSHA Standards and ESG procedures
  • Ensures OSHA recordkeeping is current
  • Coordinates and manages company safety training
programs
  • Ensures correct safety related employee training
documentation is current
  • Maintains the office hazardous communications
program is current
  • Maintains safety program documentation and project
specific safety plans with Project
Managers/Technical Resource Managers, as required
  • Provides site specific safety audits and
evaluations per request or as required by the
project contract Conducts site inspections and
safety audits, as well as accident investigations
  • Assists in the administration of an ESG
subcontractor pre-qualification process with insures
ESG of a fully qualified subcontractor
  • Process will analyze financial and technical
statements, trade and bank references, and safety
program
  • Assist Director of Utility and Federal Accounts in
the development and implementation of subcontracts
  • Manages administrative support, guidance and
assistance for business units on customer
presentations, RFQ’s, RFP’s, and reports; contracts,
subcontracts, document interpretation, analysis and
management
  • Trains employees on knowledge and understanding of
OSHA compliance
  • Completes subcontractor reviews with up to 400
subcontractors per year
  • Maintain working knowledge of: OSHA 1910 and OSHA
1926 OSHA 510 and 511 NFPA 70E 2012
  • All current safety standards and regulations for
all state and federal levels

Job Requirements:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Safety Engineering
At least six (6) years high-level experience STACK
testing field experience Title V Permit Experience
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to travel is absolutely necessary,
including traveling with short notice and overnight
travel
  • Self-directed with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and
written)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with
multiple discipline teams
  • Ability to conduct audits, inspections, and
investigations, as well as relative research
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, be tactful, work
efficiently under pressure, and persuade other
parties to the fairness of the ESG position
  • Ability to formulate logical approaches and
recommendations to address complex issues
  • Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle
frequent exposure to senior members at ESG, as well
as with external organizations, customers, and the
public
The EHS Manager will be required to travel approximately
25 - 50% of the time.
