- Assisting in determining patient eligibility, scope and priority for the CHS program. Responds to CHS inquiries and requests for CHS assistance.
- Assure adequate funds are set aside for all authorized referrals, emergency call-ins and follow up care referrals.
- Responsible for keeping up-to-date pending and completed CHS patient files, with documented status of all written and verbal transactions.
- Assists with the reporting of catastrophic Health Emergency Fund (CHEF) cases by obligating these funds.
The following shows the amount of experience and/or education required to qualify for the position based on the qualification standards of this position at each grade level:
GS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level, or 4 years of education above high school.
Specialized Experience: For GS-5 level, you must have at least one year of specialized work experience determining eligibility requirements, and obtaining and processing demographic and insurance information for contract health services or related purposes.
Combining Education and Experience: A c ombination of post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-5 grade level.
GS-6: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialized Experience: For GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized work experience responding to inquiries and requests, and implementing decisions made for the provision or denial of health care services.
GS-7: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialized Experience: For GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized work experience monitoring funds to assure that adequate funds are set aside for contract health services or related purposes, and assuring transactions affecting funds are promptly processed.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: Federal status applicants must have completed at least 52 weeks of service in a position no more than one grade lower than the position to be filled. Time-in-grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan.
