Job Summary / Overview of Responsibilities:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing a variety of operational activities for the Calamos New York office. This position is based in the Calamos New York office and reports to the Head of Investment Operations in Naperville, IL. The Operations Manager will provide onsite operations oversight and communications with the Calamos corporate office in Naperville.
Provide onsite operations support and be a key line of communication between the Calamos Naperville and New York offices as it pertains to all investment activity.
Provides operational and administrative support to the Trader, Portfolio Managers and Investment Team in the New York office.
Builds and maintains internal databases.
Prepares and runs risk reports and serves as a member of the risk committee for the Alternative Investment Team.
Oversees expense management for the Alternative Investment Team, including soft dollar services and ‘broker voting’.
Point person in New York office for research and trading vendor platforms and services such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, etc.
Completes special projects for the team as needed.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Participates as needed in Operations due diligence meetings with prospective and existing investors.
Statement of the Minimum Qualifications Needed To Do the Job:
Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance or other related area; MBA or Master’s in Finance strongly preferred.
At least 5 years experience in an investment operations position.
Prior trading experience a plus.
High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to prepare a variety of reports.
PC skills in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel with the ability to learn new programs quickly.
