Responsibilities include: Successful candidate will work in close co-operation with the Regional Contracts Group, mine sites, suppliers and vendors to ensure contracts are successfully negotiated, and implemented effectively and efficiently. Candidate will work in close co-operation with mine sites to develop technical and contractual specifications (terms and conditions, scope of work, schedules, hourly rates, etc). Proactively manage, oversee, review and analyze contracting for operational and consulting type services, contract management and as required actively participate in global contracts and/or activities on behalf of Barrick’s North American Regional Business Unit. Work with vendors, suppliers and other advisors (legal, finance, tax, insurance, construction, project controls) to negotiate and finalize contracts. As required, assist in the management and negotiation of terms and conditions for long lead procurement. Other duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
Bachelor degree in business, engineering or related field preferred
Experience in writing, negotiating and administering contracts required
Ability to promote strong relations with vendors and end-users required
Demonstrated working knowledge of construction or mine operations contracts, and a basic understanding of the legal aspects of purchasing and contracts preferred
Strong computer and database skills, including experience with Oracle and Microsoft Office preferred
Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
Strong analytical skills, resourcefulness, accountability, organization and time management skills required
Ability to be self directed and work with minimal supervision required
Satisfactory safety, performance, and attendance records required
