The Support Services Administrative Specialist performs a wide variety of administrative, clerical and secretarial duties for the Administrative Section of the Loveland Police Department.

  • 7: Initial Oral Board November 7: Executive Oral Board
  • November 18 - December 16: Comprehensive Background Investigation
  • January 6, 2014: Anticipated start date

Our Position:

Provides administrative support to members of the Support Services Division; and other units and sections of the Police Department.

Works cooperatively with and perform the functions of the other Administrative Specialists when necessary.

Coordinates special event permit applications from initial submittal through actual date of event.

Processes bi-weekly payroll for the Support Services Division.

Ability to adapt and handle stressful situations effectively. Demonstrates sensitivity to feelings of others; listens with empathy towards others; and displays compassion to calm those in distress.

Establishes and maintains effective relationships with peers, supervisors, and the public, with ability to demonstrate appropriate authority as required.

Ability to read, interpret and develop routine documents, reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Has general understanding of basic office procedures and methods.

Able to comprehend and retain information related to general job assignments within context of the position held. Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions and maintain confidentiality of information.

Speaks English clearly and converses effectively with persons of divergent ethnic, cultural and educational backgrounds.

Demonstrates working knowledge of and compliance with all department policies, procedures and directives.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.

Other duties as assigned.

Our Candidate:

Three (3) years of extensive office and work experience in word processing, administrative and clerical responsibilities required. Proficiency with Windows PC operating systems and software including Microsoft Office Suite required. A valid driver’s license is required.

Typing at 50-wpm for word processing and data entry. Experience in working with the public is preferred. E xperience in law enforcement or a related field desired.

Working Environment and Required Background Checks:

Normal office environment which may have moderate to intense levels of noise and interruption and requires sitting for extended periods of time, reaching, repetitive keyboard motion, and frequent use of telephone. Light physical effort may include lifting up to twenty pounds. Must be able to work well in tense and/or busy situations.
