Under direct supervision, renders pre-trial, trial and research assistance to attorney's in various legal matters. Work is overseen by an attorney. Will serve as the counties paralegal.

Reports, documents and exhibits are acquired and assembled for attorney's review. Drafts and proofs pleadings and papers for content and form for attorney's review. Assists in document control, coordinates exhibits and organizes documents for use in hearings or trial and overseen by an attorney.

Reviews court rosters and notifies the attorneys who are affected. Types and processes complaints, summons, and notices of hearing as requested by the attorney. Process all permanency planning and judicial review packets including notice to all necessary parties. caseworkers, attorneys and foster caregivers.

Prepare, schedule and distribute docket and assist attorney with all child and adult protective services cases as requested by the attorney.
NOTE : Must possess a valid SC driver's license. NOTE : You may be required to drive your personal vehicle from time to time in the performance of duties associated with this position. NOTE : Some overnight travel may be required. NOTE : Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. NOTE : Must attend and participate in training sessions and workshops through State Office and other related professional groups as appropriate.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(NOTE: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY BE APPLICABLE FOR INDIVIDUAL POSITIONS IN THE EMPLOYING AGENCY.)

A High School Diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for the related work experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
An Associate's Degree and two (2) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience.

A High School Diploma and four (4) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a relevant program area. Considerable knowledge of legal terminology, research techniques and court procedures/proceedings.
