Description and Qualifications

This position will be located in the Transamerica Capital Markets (TCM) division. TCM is one of the nations leading providers of annuity and life insurance products to banks, wirehouses, broker/dealers, and institutional clients. In Cedar Rapids, TCM primarily manufactures, administers, and services annuity products issued by several AEGON USA operating companies.
Member of the Risk Management team at Transamerica Capital Management, this position will report to the TCM CRO. This person will be responsible for Financial Risk Management and will be a thought leader in the Risk organization at TCM. This person will manage a team of 2 or more risk staff, and develop the Financial Risk Management group.
Day to day interface with the Hedge Team for strategy and execution
Perform the 2nd line of defense function, overseeing the different hedge programs and their performance
Work closely with the Risk Reporting team to develop and enhance risk reporting of the various financial risk exposures in the business
Responsible for compliance with the relevant risk policies
Act as a trusted advisor to the CRO and CFO on the character and consequence of the various hedging programs in place
Responsible for recommending and opining on the various assumption settings, hedging processes and calculations
Hire, develop and manage a team of two risk professionals in their group
Builds a strong culture of risk management and working relationships with other teams in TCM, including accounting, compliance, operations risk and their counterparts in Corporate
Bachelors in mathematics, actuarial science, economics or a related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in VA hedging or related capital markets position. Strong written and oral skills. Ability to translate complex issues in simple business language. Ability to develop strong inter-personal relationships within the organization Strong decision maker, based on solid analytic analysis.
Masters level degree preferred CFA/FSA desired
Familiarity with various types of VA products and their hedging techniques.
Hands on exposure to capital markets and hedging instrument is strongly desired. Strong project management and managerial skills.
