Functions as a competent scientist using expertise and ingenuity in the application of a wide variety of specialized and advanced techniques. Applies scientific principles to the solution of critical issues; evaluating approaches to unforeseen or novel problems. Assimilates the details and significance of various scientific analyses and procedures. Independently performs most projects with direction only as to the general result expected. Communicates findings via recognized publications and scientific meetings. Designs unique, innovative protocols and develops scientific methodology. May be required to arrange grant proposals for new funding, preparing and editing of grant applications and manuscript. May supervise, teach and guide a small staff. In exceptional cases, this position may lead to a faculty appointment as an instructor.

(Annual Salary Range: $33,875 - $94,849) Minimum Qualifications Doctor of Philosophy in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience to include basic molecular biology/biochemistry skills (DNA/RNA/Protein analysis, working with mice (breeding; experimental) and knowledge of MS Office OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and six (6) years of related experience required. No other equivalents are accepted for this position.

IHC/western blot/cloning analysis, tissue culture experience (primary culture; cell lines), analysis of CNS function/neuropathology in mice, use of photoshop/prism software and ability to prepare scientific manuscripts (figures and text) preferred. Licensure / Certifications None required.
