Avaya Government Solutions has an opening for a Principal Business Systems Analyst. Business Analyst providing planning, leadership and guidance in support of a variety of IT hardware and software initiatives - Gather, analyze, and compose technical information required for preparation of security documentation, handbooks, manuals, training materials, guides, reports, etc. - Quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of client's organization and industry. - Identify client organization's strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement. - Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution. - Strong analytical skills to resolve problems related to software installations or usage of software applications. - Collaborate with other engineers to fix source code problems. - Develops functional specifications and system design specifications for client engagements. - Analyze software development documents and related project documents created by the customer to confirm they are receiving the application and system requirements to fulfill the business needs being requested. - Attend and contribute to all cross-application alignment meetings and meets frequently with project sponsors and the application teams. - Work with Project Manager, internal and external customers, and application teams to understand business requirements for IT related projects. - Interface with project clients and application teams through the project life cycle to insure that project schedules are being met and that any changes to the project scope or schedule are accommodated in the project plan - Independent testing to see whether software applications meet stake holders' expectations. - Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. - Responsible for software inspection, implementation, testing, verification and validation. - Compose, write, and edit a variety IT documents. - Ensures a central depository is maintained for IT operational documentation. - Prepare technical reports and project related documentation including test instructions and associated procedures. - Review source code as needed, examine the associated product documentation and analyzed associated algorithms for static verification. - Functional testing to ensure that the functionality meets requirements. - Takes and transcribe meeting minutes for distribution to participants. - Ensure content and links are up-to-date

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years experience in at all of the following: - Technical writing - Working knowledge of project management concepts - Word processing, graphic, and spreadsheet packages in a microcomputer environment - Experience in agile software development methodologies - Structured documentation techniques or other industry-wide standards - Experience with using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, and Adobe products. - Strong knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - Strong analytical skills - Ability to translate requirements into clear, concise product design specifications. - Demonstrated experience in writing and editing technical documents that is of a software development nature. - Must possess five (5)+ years as Certified Software Quality Engineer certification - Recent background of serving as a Senior Business Analyst for a minimum of ten (10) years, and on at least three (3) separate projects that included at least 10 or more project team members. - Must possess five (5)+ years with providing IV&V support for application development testing skill - Knowledge and experience in working with a variety of tools for writing professional documents, such as manual, procedures, training, etc. - Excellent verbal and written skills. - Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
