Description and Desired Qualifications
CH2M HILL Project Controls Specialist – Portland, Oregon
The challenge? Help provide technical and application support for the Industrial & Advanced Technology team. Our Project Controls Specialist jobs provide you with an opportunity to work on state of the art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities. Each day you will help with ensuring that all project control activities such as cost and change management, project administration, project estimating, and schedule management are executed in a timely fashion. You should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelors degree and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each new project controls task.

Our Project Controls Specialist :
Must have advanced skills and experience with project management software such as Primavera Project Planner (P3), P3e/c, Expedition, Suretrak, Access, Microsoft Project and Cobra software and spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
Must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of project control principles; understand the principles and concepts of cost engineering as it relates to budgeting, monitoring and tracking actual costs, change orders and forecasting; possess superior planning and scheduling experience using the critical path method, and be able to set up basic cost reports required by the project manager
Must have hands-on experience and be able to set up basic design and construction schedules and possess the knowledge of calculating physical percent complete and calculating overall percent complete for the project
Must understand the various contract types, i.e. cost plus, T&M, FFP and provide interpretation of the prime contract requirements
Must be able to exercise independent and professional judgement in solving problems and coordinating issues as it relates to cost and schedules, and exercise independent judgement in dealing with clients, subcontractors and team partners in solving cost and scheduling problems
Must be able to read and interpret design drawings and develop projected final quantities
Must be able to perform quantity survey techniques in developing construction status
Will perform detailed variance analysis of project cost and schedule performance and present the analysis to senior management
Must be a check and balance with the project management team in determining the financial health of the project
Must be able to direct the procurement and accounting systems in support of the job cost tracking system
Will have the experience to develop defensive and offensive positions relative to project claims and analysis
Must be able to consistently estimate accurate completion time of own assignments and coordinate with project team
Must possess technical and practical application of engineering, procurement and construction functions
Must possess technical and practical application of estimating, pricing and costing
May provide some technical guidance to less experienced planning/scheduling and/or cost engineering staff
Must be able to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with coworkers, supervisors, managers, clients and other in contact with the job
Basic Qualifications

BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience
6+ years planning/scheduling or cost engineering experience in a construction or engineering environment
Must be willing to relocate to project sites as required by the business group
Experience with Primavera 6
Degree Required
Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
