VL Engineering holds the mission for delivering millions of transactions and one great experience for the volume licensing areas of Microsoft. We are responsible for designing & developing the transactional & reporting systems that manage 60%+ of Microsoft's revenue. We develop and support many of the Microsoft web and WPF UI’s and back-end applications that support VL contract management, benefits, pricing, order acceptance and fulfillment. We are looking for a talented principal level engineer who will deliver great designs for the long term, as well as well-built, practical solutions on medium to short schedules. Qualifications include a passion for making Microsoft work better, good teamwork, communication and a Can Do attitude. A record of delivering solid designs and quality code, and experience in building enterprise wide software is also a must. The ability to architect and implement complex applications and services is required, including fluency in C#, WCF and familiarity with SQL. Work closely with the Architecture team to influence our 3 year roadmaps and closely with other capabilities leads to ensure solid integration and E2E experience. In depth experience in n-tier application development and shipping mission critical software.
Minimum 8-10+ years experience architecting, designing and developing distributed systems including demonstrated experience with .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, Silverlight, Web Services, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), XML, BizTalk Server and SQL Server.
Excellent C# coding skills and ability to produce high quality code deliverables based on proven Design Patterns.
Ability to write complex stored procedures and SQL queries, along with other SQL Server development skills.
Hands-on experience in debugging techniques and tools.
Excellent understanding of Engineering Excellence processes and requirements.
Proven strengths in customer focused technical innovation, extensible design and architecture.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with customers, and all levels within the organization.
A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience working with geo-distributed teams.
Experience with Test Driven Development.
Ability to mentor, accept mentoring and be able to conduct bi-directional knowledge transfer is essential.
Must be motivated with a focus on team performance.
Globalization and localization experience.
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstration of MS values and competencies
Experience in identity management and related technologies an added bonus
