The Department of Social and Health Services, Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration at Green Hill School is currently recruiting to fill an on-call Registered Nurse 2 position. The work is intermittent in nature, is sporadic and does not fit a particular pattern. This position is not benefit eligible. Green Hill School is located in Chehalis, WA and is a 24-hour, 7-days a week institution.
This position is an integral member of the Health Center team treating the residents according to physician's orders and encouraging resident accountability using the integrated treatment plan.

Duties:
Provide professional nursing services including assessment and evaluation of medical problems; perform initial medical screening at youth intake and complete patient discharge summaries at time of release; assist physician and psychiatrist in examination, diagnostic testing, treatment, and record keeping; implement and document all physician orders; document provided health care and patient response to treatment in medical file and electronic medical database; provide medical case management for youth with chronic or acute conditions; communicate with and instruct non-medical agency staff on treatment and care of youth.
Recognize and report risk indicators by youth – e.g. self-harm threats, medication refusal or misuse. Educate and counsel residents regarding medical and mental health care. Follow applicable pharmaceutical standards and administer, document and/or dispose of prescribed pharmaceuticals appropriately; Implement infection control program/protocol requirements as identified in statutes, rules, and related JRA policies. Confer with physician for direction relating to testing and treatment of infectious diseases; Collect blood, urine, fecal, sputum, and other routine specimens for laboratory testing; R emain calm and in control in emergency health care situations; provide first aid and first response emergency medical services for youth, institution employees, and visitors;
Prepare and file medical documents; schedule in house and off campus medical appointments when Office Assistant is unavailable.
Qualifications: REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing AND one year of professional nursing experience;
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
AND
A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Incumbent must be able to communicate and comprehend through oral and written forms of communication with management, peers, clients and the public.
Registered Nurse 2s are required to respond to medical emergencies, sometimes during hours of darkness and under severe or adverse weather conditions.
Incumbents must dress appropriately for the work to be performed.
