National Guard Membership is Required : This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Work involving piloting or copiloting of aircraft to carry out various programs and functions of the Army and Air National Guard; providing ground and flight instruction and in-flight evaluation in piloting of aircraft; flight testing of developmental and modified aircraft and components; in-flight inspection and evaluation of air navigation facilities and the environmental conditions affecting instrument flight procedures; and performing staff work concerned with planning, analyzing, or administering agency aviation programs, where the work requires primarily the application of pilot knowledge and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum Requirement: Based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements.

Meeting the months of experience requirement will not by itself be accepted as proof of qualification. Quality, type, and scope of experience, training or education must be demonstrated to show that the applicant is fully qualified to perform duties at the grade level announced.

Medical Requirements: At the time of initial appointment, candidates for all pilot positions must possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations; both meet the intent of the requirement. If an agency decides, for example, not to accept the second-class medical certificate, the rationale for the decision should be based upon the requirements of the position, and should be thoroughly described in agency operating material. Staff specialists not involved in the operation of aircraft need only have a medical examination inidicating that they are able to perform the duties of the position to be filled. For flight test pilots, airspace system inspection pilots, and Customs pilots, all candidates must possess a current first class medical certificate at the time of appointment.

Specialized Experience: You MUST meet the following Minimum Flight Hour Requirements:

1500 Total Flight Hours. Copy of Flt Record DA 759 Closeout required .

250 hours of PIC in any rotary wing aircraft.

75 hours night flying.

100 flying hours last twelve months.

Further Evaluation Criteria:
1. Qualified as an instructor pilot.

2. Ability to plan, develop and implement training lesson plans, training texts and evaluation materials in the aviation area.

3. Ability to instruct and evaluate rated aviators in advanced flight techniques and instrument flight procedures.

4. Knowledge to provide ground training in pre and post flight activities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employees selected for full-time positions that require mandatory training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) will have 12 months from the date of hire to complete the required course(s). Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC for new personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination.

Enlisted Cash Bonuses: Acceptance of a technician position may affect any bonus and/or educational assistance that may be applicable. Your bonus may be terminated and repayment may be required.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) cost is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the interest of the Government.

For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

If the duties of the position require the candidate to bear firearms, he/she must be qualified in accordance with the appropriate military regulation.

For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

Employees selected for positions that require Information Assurance (IA) Training and Certification will have 6 months from the date of hire to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for the position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating Change 1, 15 May 2008). Failure to complete the training and certification may be cause for reassignment or termination.
