The person hired for the position of Reliability and Maintenance Engineer will lead the effort to support and maintain Lab, Office, Pilot Plant, Utility Plant and Data Center Facilities that are integral to the worldwide operation of 3M. The Reliability and Maintenance Engineering position at 3M St. Paul Plant Engineering is critical to the support of maintenance operations, to assure safe and reliable equipment operation and to implement infrastructure renewal.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Coordinate ongoing maintenance of Lab, Office, Pilot Plant, Utility Plant and Data Center Facilities at 3M Center.
Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis teams (RCFA), kaizen events, and problem solving sessions.
Understand and develop Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) performance of the equipment and drive continuous improvement.
Perform failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks and Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PPM)
Perform PPM effectiveness assessment at appropriate timings
Periodically review preventive maintenance plans to assure optimum process and frequency of performance, for reliability and Mechanical Integrity needs
Forecast equipment replacement and renewal insuring continued asset utilization while controlling capital costs.
Provide mechanical engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including: troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades, and ownership of improvements.
Provide on-call support for any emergency or maintenance activity.
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with an accredited university
Minimum 3 years of reliability engineering experience
Experience with Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) Training and Practice
Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) Training and Practice
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
5 or more years of reliability engineering experience
Experience conducting vibration analysis
Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organizational skills.
Location : 3M Center in Maplewood, MN
Travel : may include up to 10% travel
