This position is funded through a federal grant. The employee’s maximum term of employment is the duration of the grant and upon the end of the grant the employee has no statutory, contractual or other right of continued employment.

Job Goals:
To help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women.

Performance Responsibilities:
1. Assists students in evaluating their aptitude and abilities through the interpretation of test scores and other pertinent data, and works with students in evolving education and occupation plans in terms of such evaluation.
2. Maintains adequate cumulative records on students.
3. Disseminates information regarding career opportunities.
4. Acquaints students (and their parents) with entrance requirements of post-secondary schools and helps them to make a realistic comparison between the student's record and abilities and the specific requirements of the institution in which the student is interested.
5. Maintains a file of catalogs, school profiles, and scholarship aid information related to schools, colleges, and institutions offering post-secondary training and education.
6. Assists students wishing to make application to post-secondary schools, including application for financial aid where needed.
7. Maintains open communications and positive relationships with admission officers, especially those representing schools in which District students traditionally demonstrate the most interest.
8. Arranges conferences with students for admission officers who visit the high school.
9. Remains up-to-date on changing job-entry skill requirements and changing technologies in business and industry.
10. Prepares follow-up studies of former students for the purpose of improving services and evaluating the effectiveness of the counseling program.
11. Works with teachers and other staff members to familiarize them with the general range of services offered by the student personnel services department and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being counseled.
12. Takes all necessary and reasonable steps to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
13. Maintains accurate, complete records and inventories as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
14. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign in a supplemental job description involving the individual school program.
Terms of Employment: 192 Days

Salary and work year to be according to current schedule.
