The Logistics and Engineering Solutions Business Unit seeking an Purchasing Assistant for our Fairfield, NJ office.
Job Description: Help procure MRO goods and services; contributes to the development of proposals and negotiates prices, terms, schedules and other provisions of purchase orders and acquisition contracts which are typically of moderate dollar value, risk and complexity, and consistent with Prime Vendor client requirements and procurement policies/procedures. Regularly interacts with suppliers, customers and functional peer groups. This candidate must be able to provide a very high level of customer service and responsiveness while balancing the requirements of government type procurement regulations. Requires some procurement experience, and the ability to perform job requirements within the scope of the position with minimal assistance. Requires some knowledge of business principles in areas such as purchasing, materials logistics, finance, accounting and supply chain practices. Able to react well to change and suggests solutions to problems.
Qualifications
:
This position requires heavy phone work, including calling suppliers and communicating with customers. This person will also be responsible for updating corporate databases and following up with suppliers as to the status of materials.
Education: College degree or equivalent experience required.
Required Skills: Customer service and/or prior sales experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Military background a plus
