The City of Tacoma, Neighborhood & Community Services Department, has an immediate opening for a full-time Program Assistant in the Human Services Division.
This position will be responsible to perform a variety of complex, responsible and specialized technical duties administering human services contracts, initiatives and community partnerships related to the implementation of the city’s Human Services Strategic Plan and in support of the Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Therapeutic Courts Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: administrative assistance with contract management; training and technical assistance to human services programs; development and implementation of evaluation systems; participation in community meetings; contract and project facilitation and reporting; database management and web page administration.
An equivalent combination to: graduation from high school and three years of responsible clerical and/or technical experience relating to human services, recreation services, community resources, public relations or other experience directly related to Human Services programs.
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business, public administration or a related field. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with human service organizations, including program development, contract management and performance evaluation. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Therapeutic Courts service area.
Selection Process & Supplemental Information:
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will have their responses to the supplemental questions evaluated by a panel of subject matter experts. These questions will be scored on the basis of information provided; therefore, it is the responsibility of the applicant to carefully list all pertinent experience and training. The evaluation committee will not have access to the candidate's application. Providing false information will result in disqualification. Candidates must pass this evaluation in order to be placed on the eligible list for interview and hiring consideration.
