Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Corporate Finance Team. This position is responsible for managing staff, documentation and review of internal processes and controls. You and your team will be responsible for the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, expense analysis and other management reporting. You will be responsible for the Company’s tax filings including coordination with our external accounting firm, preparation of supporting schedules, and review of the state, federal and foreign tax returns. You will prepare the annual incurred rate submission to DCAA/DCMA and participate in the preparation of provisional and forward pricing indirect rates. You will maintain the company’s disclosure statement and document policies and procedures as appropriate. You will take the lead role in supporting DCAA audits and tax inquires and you will support other internal and external audits. You will support the development of improved financial performance measurement processes and metrics.
Applicants selected must meet the requirements set forth by the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) for access to export controlled information. A Bachelor’s degree with a business or related concentration
Five or more years’ experience managing accounting staff with demonstrated system process improvement skills

Qualified candidates will have 10 or more years of related financial accounting and tax experience.
Previous government contract experience and a solid working knowledge of GAAP, FAR and CAS
CPA or CMA designation
Deltek Costpoint experience
Previous experience preparing an Incurred Cost Submission
Audit background or experienced lead in supporting audits
