The Chrysler Quality Organization is currently seeking a Quality Engineer professional to join our Quality team at Chrysler's Indiana Transmission facility in Kokomo, Indiana. This position offers the selected candidate an opportunity to be an integral part of company whose focus is to change the automotive landscape. The Quality Engineer professional is responsible to lead and support the continuous use of Production Quality Practical Problem Solving Methods and Processes for major quality issues arising from gauging, production, control plans, dimensional issues, and quality check routes, leak test and functional non-conformances.

The Quality engineer expert must be a creative problem solver, proactive and steadfast in the identification and resolution vehicle quality. The candidate will provide timely feedback to Manufacturing Operations on problems identified for actions to be taken quickly to immediately address quality issues. The selected individual will have experience in managing cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing and quality landscape and present outstanding teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.

Specific Responsibilities of the role are:
  • Perform root cause analysis of quality issues from machining, assembly, or warranty returns utilizing advanced problem solving tools
  • Perform analysis of scrap, establish priority based on top issues for quality and cost, utilize problem solving tools to reduce scrap as a lead or member of the team
  • Conduct capability studies on machines and processes to ensure robustness of the product
  • Develop standardized work for production operators including boundary samples for reference
  • Report to management using quality indicator data to eliminate or mitigate the quality issues
  • Facilitate meetings between various functions that impact product quality
  • Flexibility to work on a pattern crew schedule over two shifts, including weekends
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Contribute or drive team success by clarifying expectation and minimizing political hurdles
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements

This growth is a testament to the commitment of Chryslers' senior management to produce a top-rated quality product. In setting high standards in the six types of quality: reliability, dissatisfaction, regulatory, perceived, performance, and service, Chrysler's product line and customer experience has improved dramatically. The teams within the Quality Organization are empowered to improve customer satisfaction for their system or area. As a result, Chrysler now has the best quality in the 73-year history of the company.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree or higher in Engineering or in an equivalent Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive engineering and 1 years in Manufacturing and/or Quality Control
  • Familiar with GD&T, SPC, CDS, MQAS (ISO9000 / 14001), PSO, and PPAP
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree or higher in Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing
  • Experience in powertrain manufacturing within a production environment
