Performing professional level supervisory job duties related to planning , zoning and community development. This position calls for a person who is selfmotivated and self disciplined and who may represent the agency before public groups. Work is performed with considerable independence under general direction of the Planning Manager and/or Director of Community Planning, Zoning and Development Division.

Conducts studies and analyzes data in relation to the County’s long range planning program;
Prepares or reviews amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Code, and other development policies;
Responsible for the administration of the County’s Comprehensive Plan;
Performs on-site field reviews and inspections;
Reviews applications for rezonings, variances, special exceptions and conditional uses, etc., as directed;
Performs research and prepares and maintains related records;
Assists with Local Planning Board or County Commission meetings as directed;
Completes or oversees completion of special projects involving community development issues;
Prepares or reviews the preparation of grant applications;
Informs clients of required restrictions associated with the Land Development Code;
Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Use vision, hearing and speech skills to communicate.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work inside and outside.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Current principles and practices of long range planning; recent developments; current literature and sources of information in the field of long range orcomprehensive planning knowledge of empirical research and data gathering procedures necessary for a successful long range planning program such as population projections and economic base analysis.
ABILITY TO: Assist in implementing a successful program related to long range planning; present programs and ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; speak before public groups; establish and maintain effective working relationship with employees, officials and public; exercise independent judgment and tact.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning , Environmental Science, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field and four years of relevant planning and zoning experience,
OR Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field and two years of relevant planning and zoning experience.
LICENSE: Applicant must have a valid State of Florida Driver's License at the date of hire and maintain said license while employed in this position.
