The Department of Economics at The University of Iowa solicits applications to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, effective August 2013. Applications are encouraged from individuals whose research relates to economic and behavioral factors influencing human obesity including nutrition and physical activity, their consequences and/or policy responses. The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in a multidisciplinary University of Iowa Obesity Initiative (OI), encompassing research and education. New faculty will complement the University’s existing expertise to form the core of this ambitious initiative. Participation in the OI will be an important component in performance evaluations. Successful applicants must show clear potential to develop and lead a nationally prominent, externally funded research program and a commitment to excellent teaching in growing undergraduate and graduate programs.
An earned Ph.D. in Economics or a related field is required.
Candidates for assistant professor must have a relevant doctoral degree and a promising record of scholarship and productivity. Candidates for associate professor also are required to have a record of peer-reviewed research that provides evidence of nationally recognized scholarly work and research; a history of funding from an external agency supporting scholarly research; and extensive experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels with evidence supporting excellent teaching.
Productive post-doctoral research experience is highly desired for all candidates.
