Hi, i am author of a small open source library - I would like to offer a ppa where people can automatically download the newest versions. hamsterdb is a C/C++ library based on automake/autoconf. I do not know much about ubuntu packaging, launchpad etc., therefore i am looking for help. My requirements are: I want to add a ppa to my ubuntu system (12.04 and above, 32bit and 64bit) and then choose between 2 different packages: libhamsterdb: contains compiled libraries + tools libhamsterdb-dev: contains compiled libraries + headers I want to keep the ppa up-to-date with newer versions of hamsterdb, but also for newer versions of ubuntu.

The ppa will be public, but i do not intend to merge hamsterdb into an official ubuntu channel. The package has to be lintian-clean only if this is required for the ppa. Your job would be to - create the packaging scripts, deal with bzr, launchpad etc to get the ppa working as described above - also send me instructions what i have to do when newer hamsterdb/ubuntu versions are released Looking forward to hear from you, Christoph ------------------------------------------ Added 9 MAR 2013, 10:00 AM EST Update: hamsterdb is based on automake/autoconf, and running "./configure; make; make install" will perform the full build. There are a few dependencies (protobuf-compiler, libprotobuf-dev, libcurl-dev, libboost-dev) but they're all available as standard ubuntu packages.

hamsterdb is a non-profit/open source project. I offer commercial licenses, but usually do not sell more than 1 or 2 per year. My budget is below 40 US$. Desired Skills: bzr debian launchpad packaging ubuntu
